Been blanking up and down the coast…The only thing holding the soul together is a weekly trout mission to Franschhoek. Caught up on my missed entries and realise you will no doubt know the serendipitous Werner. When you are next in Tuckers (Or Fuckers as we like to call it) ask Werner for directions to a Trout spot on the Berg River Dam. Strictly speaking fishing isnt allowed but Sunday or the rugby makes it easier to get by unnoticed. There are massive Trout who wont hesitate when a sub surface lure is sent their way (Small rainbow colours work best). Drive through town past Information etc, turn left and on towards the dam (Very big dam-no confusion as to wether you are at the right spot).
But, when blanking becomes to much to bear: Stall Rent/Mortgage payment-Fill up-Brave an Ovambo border official-Turn left just before Windhoek-Stop for a Hanza at the Swakop Brauhaus and on to Henties Baai. There are fresh water spots the entire way to keep momentum going. I tried it and stayed for 5 Months. Failing that Breede River is a must do!
