Returned from school, said " Hello Willy "
grabbed the frozen bloodworm and was out the door, strange feeling of excitement. Feeling good, clear, despite a hectic Monday, no admin periods and extra math lessons to boot.
Drove along Baden Powell looking for brown water. The sea had a dark tea tinge to it, almost a summer time colour, the surf was rolling nicely. Not much rich ginger beer, but there was a spot just at the end of palletjies so stopped at baited up.
First cast into an outgoing tide at 4:45 pm

Looking out today, good looking water, The assassin is on the right and the kingfisher on the left.

So what do I do next, wonder at the endless stream of cars hurtling too fast down Baden Powell, feel lucky that they are just returning home and I am already fishing. Feel quite blessed. Next light a smoke , holding it inwards tucked in my hand, otherwise the wind smokes half of it. Am making today my last day of smoking, I need the extra lung space and energy. Feel sorry for my pupils as they will have to suffer the brunt of my withdrawal. Tee hee.
| a view of the famous palletjies, (those wooden things) the endless cars, broken road and strandfontein pool in the distance. Cool mountains hey ? What a place we live in. |
Reel in to check the bait, some gone, recast, damn overwind. As i'm sorting it out the assassin starts pointing seaward and the zzzzrrzzz starts slowly, this time, I wait, heart thumping, count to ten, ok a quick ten, strike, nothing. Damn again, could have been seaweed as there is lots floating around. On reeling in the worm has been neatly bitten in half, so it was a fish. Well, it has to happen sooner or later. Reeled in at 6:30 light just going out of the sky, but it is getting later every night. Roll on summer, roll on fish.
Run out of blood worm now, will have to switch to pilchard unless I can get some fresh harders somewhere. Chicken for dinner!
